Kevin's First Growing Post

1/2 + 1/6 ( 40 min )
You can use the clock method to
help you figure out what the
fraction equals.
1/2 = 30 min
60 d by 2 = 30
1/6 = 10 min
60 d by 6 =10

1/4 + 7/12 (50 min)

1/4 = 15 min
60 d by 4 = 15
7/12 = 5 min
60 d by 12 = 5 x 7
Now that you know what each fractionequals all you have to do is compare them :)

( >>Kevin & Charmaine's Bike Race << )

In this bike race there was 60 km in total. Every 1/8 of the way
there is a resting point, every 12th, 6th and 3rd of they way there are km markers, every 4th of the way there is a food wagon
and every 10th of they way there is a water station. Our job was to lable and show the math to see where there the stations and markers are on the corse.
An easy way to do it is take the denominator of the fractions and then divide it by 60 and then you will get a number and that will be how many km before the station or marker :)
EG...
60 d by 8 = 7.5
So every 7.5 miles there is a resting point
1/12, 1/6, and 1/3 you could make it into a clock and then you take the number you get and turn it into km and then every km you will have a marker

1/12 = 5 km
60 d by 12 = 5
5km So every 10, 20, and 5 km there
is a km marker.
1/6 = 10
60 d by 6 = 10
10km

1/3 = 20
60 d by 3 = 20
20km

This website has a bunch of diffrent games and they all are realy cool.
check one out.

Two diffrent ways to find 3/4 of 110, 22, and 16 is....

You could divide each number by
4 .
and a seccond way is make into a clock.

?Who is larger?
3/4 + 4/12 or 3/6 + 1/12

You could use the clock method 3/6 is equall to 30 min and 1/12 is

3/4 of the clock is 15 min and 4/12 equall to 5 min + 30min = 35min

is the same as 20min. 20 + 20 = 40

40min

Now all you have to do is come pare the 2 numbers 35 and 40 and witch ever one is larger is your answer to wich fraction is larger.
