Kathleen's First Growing Post

1/2 + 1/6 OR 1/4 + 7/12

1/2 = 60 divided by 2 equals 30 minutes
1/6 = 60 divided by 6 equals 10 minutesso then you just have to add the total minutes together.
30+10=40 minutes

1/4 = 60 divided by 4 equals 15 minutes
7/12 = 60 divided by 12 equals 5 then, you times 5x7 = 35 minutes
then you add up the total minutes together to get your answer15+35=50 minutes

so 1/4 + 7/12 is LARGER.

I picked this game because it will show you how to do fractions, like you have to use the lowest common denominater (lcd). the easy level is pretty easy but when you go to the harder one, its going to be more difficult. it's really fun, and the monkeys are cool.

we put a legend so it could be easier to read, and we marked it on our map.
okay so how we got the answer ..60 km -Resting Points = Every 1/8, 60/8 = 7.5
-Food Wagon: Every 1/4,60/4 = 15
-Water: Every 1/1060/10 = 6
-Juice: Every 1/560/5=12
-Km markers: Every 1/12, 1/6, & 1/3
we divided 60 since its 60 km and we divided that by every 8th of the way (8th, 4th, 10th, 5th etc)

what are 2 diffrent ways to find a quarter and 3/4 of a number. Use one of the following 16, 22, or 110?
- dividing it by four ORRRR ..
- cut the pieces into a clock to help you get the answer

--
Which one is larger?
1/2+1/6 OR 1/3+1/4?

since theres 60 minutes in a clock you divide 60 by the denominator ..

1/2 : 60/2 = 30 mins
1/6 : 60/6 = 10 mins
30+10=40 minutes

1/3 : 60/3 = 20 mins
1/4 : 60/4 = 15 mins
20+15=35 minutes

1/2+1/6 = 40 minutes is LARGER

Title 1/1
Label 1/1
Question 3 5/5
Question 4/5 3/3
Question 6 /5
Question 7 3/3
Question 8 5/5
Question 9 5/5
Question 10 7/7

total 34/35

I gave you a 34 /35 because you didnt really finish the question in number 6 because you kind of forgot to do one of those numbers in the question. But over all I think you did a good job in explaining and showing your work because its easy for people to understand. GOOD JOB :)
