Molly's Growing Post


Question 1

First you start with the ordinary size of Betty's Snack Mix witch is 2 2/5 at the price of 3.60. Then you times 2 2/5 by 5 and you get 12, and what you do to one side you do to the other so you times 3.60 by 5 and you get 18.00. Then you take 12 and divide it by 2 so you can get half of 12 witch is 6, then you do the same to the other side witch is 18.00 divide by 2 equals 9.00.

1.my stargies were that i muliplyed by five and three and i dont care if it wrong the wrong answer.
2. i dont realy know that i guessed but it was all right if i got some anwser wrong right.
3.me i dont how i got the anwsers and it just POP in to my head like a insean person would have a dream of that second that you would ask them, what happened to you there you blanked out right there and then.

What strategies were needed?


The stragedy I used for answering this test was i found out how much 1 cup of kibbles was. When i got 1 cup i mulitplied it by the number of cups i needed or if it was smaller than a cup i divided it by the denominator ex. How to find 1/3 i divided 1 cup by 3.
2. How did you use these strategies?( 3.Or How could you of used these strategies.)
Total 2 2/5= 2.4
1 1/5= 1.2
Shreddies 4/5= 0.8
Peanuts 2/5= 0.6
Pretzles 2/5= 0.4

From this i multiplied the numbers by 5 then divided it by 12 to get 1 cup on a ratio table.


4.How would you figure out the price of a 6 cup bag of Betty's Snack mix? Use a ratio table.





First, i multiply 2 2/5 by 5 equal to 12 and then i did the same thing in the other side..so $3.60x5=$18.00. Then i divided 12 by 2 equal to 6 and then i did the same thing in the other side...$18.00 divided by







5.Find 3 other values (amounts of Snack Mix) that could be solved using the same ratio table. Find the $$ of your new container sizes.











I decided to find the values for 3, 24 and 1 1/2.
To get 3 cups, i just divided 6 by 2= 3..so i did the same thing in the other side $9.00 divided by 2=$4.50.
To get 24 cups, i just multiply 3 cups by 8=24 cups and then i multiply $4.50 by 8=$36.00.
To get 1 1/2 cups,i divided 24 by 16=1.5, then i change 1.5 to a fraction, so its 1 1/2....and then i

Kylee's Last Growing Post Question



In this last question we had to find which group had the most pieces of pizza. If you read these two pictures then they will tell you the answers I got to the questions. Enjoy!! :)
Sorry i have the pictures on the wrong sides. The second picture should be where the first pictures is.
Ok so in the second picture it tells about the groups of people and the number of pizzas each group gets. Group 1 Sally, Bob, Gidget, and Biff share 3 pizzas
Group 2 Stan, Holly, Barry, Ben, and Ichkabbible share 4 pizzas.
Group 3 Eric, Suzy, James, Betty, Veronica, and Moose share 5 pizzas.
Group 4 Paul, Alex, Chris, Jughead, Archie, Reggie, Mr. Wotherspoon, and Midge share 7 pizzas.
In the first picture it explains how many pieces of pizza each group gets.
Group 1: 4 people-3 pizzas. Each person gets 2 pieces and 1/4.
Group 2: 5 people-4 pizzas. Each person gets 4 pizza.
Group 3: 6 people-5 pizzas. Each person gets 8 pieces.
Group 4: 8 people-7 pizzas. Each person gets 7 pieces.
WHO WON?!??!
Group number 3 got the most pizza , because they each get 8 pieces of pizza.

Ok so first of all I have to figure out how far Mark would have ran if he ran 7/8 of the course. And how far Racheal wold have ran if she ran 11/12 of the course.


The whole matters-in the first picture both Racheal and Mark both ran a whole of 26 miles. Each ran 5/8 and 7/12.

Measurment/Fractions are operators-in the second picture you have to add 1/8 five times, so that it equals 5/8. Then 4/7 of the way. 1/2 of the course, 1/2 of 26, 7/12=1/12,1/2x26.

For the puppy kibble test I used the multiply and divide strategies, and I also used fractions like cirlce graphs but with containers.
I think another one would of been more helpful like just dividing the fractions in different ways like the same answer but get it a different way.
I would first see how many cups each ingredient is, then I would see if all of them ca go into six cups to make the snack mix.

2/3 + 1/4 +2/5 = 5/12 I added both numerators and both denominator and
looked to see what they each amounted to.

3/5 + 2/7= 5/12 I did the samething as I did for question one
I added both numerators and both denominators and it came out to be the
sme answer as question one.

1/6 + 1/9= 2/15 for this question I added the denominator and the numerator to
get the answer(I did the reverse of question one and two).

5/6 - 1/4= 4/2 I subtracted the numerator and the denominator to get the answer
(I did the same thing as number three but I just subtracted it instead of adding them)

(1) they will each get two peices for the whole pizza as you can see they will each get 3 peices each( 3/4) of a pizza

(2) they will ech get 1/2 a peice for each pizza, because they each go into the pizza every
1/2 a peice

(3) they each get one peice of pizza, so there is no leftovers because if you give them 2 peices each there won't be enough pizza for all of them

(4) they each get three peices of pizza because they go into the pizza two times

group four would of ate the most peices out of all them i drew pizzas on paint and looked for how many peaople went into the pizza with no leftovers.

I think I should of explained it more to show what I did.
i divided the amount of pizza with the amount of people and got the answer
which is how many peices each person in the group
will get.

-The strategies that were needed are money, clocks, multiplication, division, ratio tables and also picture in order to solve this problem.

- I used these strategies to help me find out how much was needed for the snack mix and how much it would cost.

- I could've just used a ratio table to help me, but i used the multiplication since I thought it was easier and faster to figure out everything.The ratio table is also a good help since you can divide the sections like how much cups, and how much it costs.

The strategies being used were using a money, pictures, and ratio tables to solve the problems.
2. How did you use these strategies ?
I used these strategies by using money and ratio tables to show how i got the price of each cup and how much ingredients were in each bag. I also used pictures to show how 1 half of 1/2 is 1/4 and so on.



3. Or how could you have used these strategies ?
I did use all of these strategies ? But i could have used it in more of a organized and easy to understand way then i did use before.

1.What strategies were needed?
The stratgies that were used were to use a simple ratio table and to use addition and division.
2.How did you use these strategies?
I used these strategies to figure out the answers with the ratio table i figured out 12 cups by adding 2/5 over and over again until I got 12 cups. And so i did the same thing on the other side with $3.60, i just kept adding $3.60 until I got $18.00.
3.Or How could you of used these strategies.
I could've had just multiplied 2 2/5 by 5 and $3.60 by 5.

Erick's Second Growing Post


1. What strategies were needed?
The strategies needed were a simple ratio table, multiplication addition and division.
2 How did you use these strategies?
I first got the information I knew. So i had 2 2/5 cups which was $3.60. Then i kept adding 3.60 to my answers each time so it would be like 3.60 + 3.60= 7.20 then 7.20 + 3.60= 10.80. Then i did the same thing on the fraction of 2 2/5, so it would be like 2 2/5 + 2/25 = 4 4/5, and so on.When I got 12 cups it was $18. I divided 12 by 12 to get 1. Then I divided 1 by to to get the half.
3 Or How could you of used these strategies?
I could of multiplied 2 2/5 by 5 to get 12 and 3.60 by 12 to get 18.00.

I first multiplied the first answer and then for the 3 question I divided and then I times it at the end to get my full answer to my ratio table.

1.The strategies needed were T-charts, multiplication,and division.










2. I did it differently on my test. Now I learned the easy way to do it. Instead of going through all of the trouble. I used a T-chart which is much easier then what I did on my math test.





3. I could have used a T-chart on my test. I tought it would be good to try out a T-chart on this growing post. T-chart is on the top black and white one.





4. For the new snack mix I put 2 2/5, 12, 3 ,6 ,1 and 4 on the snack mix side. Then $6, $1.50, $9, $4.50, $3.60, and $18 on the money side. Then I just multiplied them and divided them to get the new price. Then the charts on the top. It's the colourful one.

2 2/5 by 2, 3, 4... until I got Then multiplying all the ingredients by that number.
