Betty's Snack Mix
1. What strategies were needed?
I used a ratio table to find out the amounts for 1 cup, from the information already given for 2 2/2 cups. Then I multiplied everything for 1 cup by 12 to get 12 cups. To find 1/2 cup, I divided everything from 1 cup by 2.
2. How did you use these strategies?
First I turned everything for 2 2/5 cup into a decimal
total: 2 2/5 = 2.4
shreddies: 1 1/5 = 1.2
peanuts: 4/5 = 0.8
pretzels: 2/5 = 0.4
price: $3.60

Then I used the ratio table and multiplied the numbers first by 10, then divied it by 24 to find 1 cup.
total: 1 cup
shreddies: 0.5 to 1/2
peanuts: 0.8 to 1/3
pretzels:0.4 to 1/6
price: 3.60 to 1.50
^^^^ all that info. is for 1 cup. now we have to multiply all that by 12 to get 12 cups:
total: 12 cups
shreddies: 6 cups
peanuts: 4 cups
pretzels:2 cups
price:18.00

to find 1/2 cups, divide everything for 1 cups by 2:
total: 1/2 cup
shreddies:1/4 cup
peanuts: 1/6 cup
pretzels: 1/12 cup

3. Or How could you of used these strategies
Instead of finding 1 cup first, I could have turned everything into a decimal like before, but divide by 4.8 to get the information for the 1/2 cup first, then multiply by 2 to get 1 cup:

1/2 cup:
total: 2 2/5 = 2.4
shreddies: 1 1/5 = 1.2
peanuts: 4/5 = 0.8
pretzels: 2/5 = 0.4
price: $3.60

Total: 2.4/4.8=0.5 = 1/2
shreddies: 1.2/4.8=0.25= 1/4
peanuts:0.8/4.8=0.1666=1/6
pretzels:0.4/4.8=0.08333=1/12
price: $3.60/4.8= $0.75

1 cup:
total:1/2 x2= 1
shreddies:1/4 x2=1/2
peanuts:1/6 x2=1/3
pretzels:1/12 x2= 1/6
price:$0.75 x2= $1.50

4. How would you figure out the price of a 6 cup bag of Betty's Snack mix? Use a ratio table
First find out 1 cup by turning the 2 2/5 cup (+ all the other info) into a decimal, then multily it by 10, then divide it by 24:
Then multiply all that by 6 to get 6 cups:
total: 6 cups
shreddies: 1/2x6= 3 cups
peanuts: 1/3x6= 2 cups
pretzels: 1/6x6= 1 cup
prices: $1.50 x 6= $9








5. Find 3 other values (amounts of Snack Mix) that could be solved using the same ratio table. Find the $$ of your new container sizes.
I decided to find the values for 3,10, and 14 cups. First, I found the price:

<----To find the price for 14 cups, I added all the money for 1,3, and 10 cups together because 1+3+10= 14
1.50+4.50+15.00=$21.00

Ingredients for 3 cups I multiplied everything from 1 cup by 3:
shreddies: 1/2 x 3= 1 1/2
peanuts: 1/3 x 3= 1
pretzels: 1/6 x 3= 1/2

Ingredients for 10 cups I mulitplied everything for 1 cup by 10:
shreddies: 1/2 x 10 = 5 cups
peanuts: 1/3 x 10= 3 1/3 cups
pretzels: 1/6 x 10= 1 2/3 cups

Ingredients for 14 cups I add the ingredients for 1,3 and 10 cups together:
shreddies: 1/2 + 1 1/2+ 5= 7 cups
peanuts: 1/3+ 1+ 3 1/3= 4 2/3 cups
pretzels: 1/6+ 1/2 +1 2/3= 2 1/3 cups
