Karen's Scribe

In class we finished our Pythagoras tab thing.

We started by finishing the Proof #1 tab.

Using the dotted paper we cut out 3x3, 4x4, and 5x5 squares.

After we put the squares together to make a right angle triangle in the middle.

The we showed how 3²+4²= 5² . This follows the formula a²+b²= c²

Then we had to cut out another 3x3, 4x4, and 5x5. We had to color 3x3 and 5x5 the same color. After we had to glue the 4x4 on top of the 5x5.

It should look like this. We had to describe what it could be showing. Like a little math formula its showing.

Here its showing that the 4² covering the 5². When you look at it you can say that the formula your seeing is: 5² - 4² = 3² or c² - b² = a²

After this tab we started on a new tab called Find the missing side.

The pythatgorean theorem a² + b² = c² can be rearranged and written:

Then we got a picuture and we had to figure out what the answer was.

Here is what were going to do..
Fill in what you know....
Now change the square numbers into what they equal..
Then you subtract the numbers...

Find the square root....
Then the square root equals B!
