What is a Pythagorean Triple?
Three unknown numbers, a, b, and c that satisfy a2+b2=c2 is a pythagorean triple.
example:
a=6 b=8 c=10
a2+b2=c2
6(squared)+8(squared)=10(squared)
36+64=100
100=100

question 3
Problem B
You’ve just picked up a ground ball at first base, and you see the other team’s player running towards third base. How far do you have to throw the ball to get it from first base to third base, and throw the runner out?
What are we trying to find? The distance from the first base to the third base.
1/2 of the diamond is a right angle triangle, and the length of two sides are given. That means we can use the Pythagorean theorem to find the distance from first base to third base.
(The side that we are trying to find is across the right angle, so it's the hypotenuse, c.)
formula to find the hypotenuse:
a² + b² = c²
we know that...
a=90
b=90
c=?
plug in the numbers, and follow the formula:
a² + b² = c²
90²+ 90²= c²
8100+8100=c²
16 200=c²
..........then you have to find the square root of 16 200 to find the square root of c², which is c
√16 200 = √c²
127.27= c
Question 4

Wow Judy! Nice work you got there.
=D
Did it take long? 4-3 hours? xP
good job judy! :D like you question 4 :)
heyy i'm going tosolve your question:) ready?
okay,
i know that..
a=3
b=?
c=4
the formula i'm going to use is...
c2-a2=b2
my work:
c2 - a2 = b2
4(sq) - 3(sq) = b2
16 - 9 = b2
(the square root of)7 = b
(the square root of)7= 2.64
2.64 = b :):):)
okay!done! hope it's right byee
