Jordan's ScribePost

Ok, I am going to show questions and answers 5-8 from 2 days ago with Mr.Bartz.

Question 5:

Skateboards cost $36 each in my local store. The shopkeeper says if I buy 1 I can get another for only 7/9 of the normal price. How much would a second skateboard cost?

This is my math work: 36 divided by 9 = 4 x 7 = 28

The second skateboard would cost $28.

6. Billy collected 256 conkers but lost ? (use any number you want, I'm using 167) on his way to school through a hole in his bag. When he arrived at school how many conkers did billy have left?

256 - 167 = 89

Billy has 89 conkers left.

7. There are 25 pupils in the class. 3/5 of the pupils support Chelsea and the remainder of the class supports Arsenal. How many pupils support Arsenal?

25 divided by 5 = 5 x 2 = 10

10 people support Arsenal.

8. The local shop normally sells Mars bars for 40 pence. The shopkeeper says I can buy them for 1/4 less then the normal price. How much can i buy a Mars bar for?

40 - 10 (40 - 1/4) = 30

You can buy a Mars bar for 30 pence.
